![]() This morning (a day later!) I received an email telling me is also unmonitored. The email from Support came from and where the advice they gave flatly did not work, and where the issue then remained resolved, I replied to them. It gets worse - so, emails from Ebay come from a "no-reply" address. I've not done so for a long time, and right now it looks like Ebay turn out to be sufficiently bad that they are not a viable alternative to Amazon or Aliexpress, or indeed, viable in and of themselves, not if you want to make purchases as a guest, which is what I want. I think made a mistake in buying from Ebay. The order number is sufficient, as no one else will have it. I then searched help for "cancel order", which takes me to Īnd that's the page which is the brick wall.Īs before, there looks to be no way as a guest without phone number to contact support, so I can't ask support how to contact the seller.įinally, the package has now shipped, so it cannot be cancelled.Įbay on the face of it have prevented order cancellation - in part by the help pages being manifold and disjoint, and in part by forcing guest users to make an account to contact the seller. It has no relevant information to cancelling an order. The email from Ebay, which comes from an email address which cannot be replied to (so you can't email support, and as we saw, the page for those who cannot take a call goes to the customer suggestions form), has a link to this page This takes you to a page where you have to create an ebay accountīTW, I'm curious to know how you found that help page you directed me to. On the order page, near the bottom, is a link, "contact seller" In the confirmation email, click on "view order details" (the help page you pointed me at, which begins by asking for the order number, I think simply re-sends that order number / link to order details - I can't be sure yet, because although I've entered the order number and hit submit, and been told such an email has been sent, it's been about twenty minutes and the email has not arrived). The route you've looking at, which I had not seen and have now explored, goes like this So, first, thankyou - it doesn't work, but I appreciate your help. ![]() However, we can’t respond to suggestions like this because we may have been working on a similar idea internally already, and we want to avoid any potential misunderstandings around the ownership of the idea. (Oh - and if you claim to be "hard of hearing" (so you can't take a call), you're taken to a form, where you fill in your details and hit submit, which then completes, saying I have no problems with EBay arranging their support and cancellation in this way, it's their business, and they can make whatever blunders they like, but if they do, it must be made clear to the buyer BEFORE they buy. Long story short : you can cancel only by contacting the seller, which you cannot do without an account - all you can do is contact ebay support, and you can only contact ebay support if you have a phone number - and hand it over to Ebay! - because all that's on offer is Ebay phone you back.įar as I can tell I cannot, in any way, contact support, or the seller. I was already regretting the purchase because the seller says "EU sales taxes included" but I'm in the UK. I don't keep a phone number, so I put in a fake number.Ībout an hour later, Ebay sent me an email "Update to Order", which contained and only contained an exhortation to make an Ebay account. There's an item I want, and it's available on Amazon, Ebay and AliExpress, so it was a case of least evil. I've not used Ebay in most of two decades.
